So on to what’s strutting down the runway for you this week.  Each and every month, we will be bringing you some fun new shopping and style guides featured on the style, beauty, shopping, gentleman, and lifestyle pages.  We will spotlighting what we adore for the month and would love to hear what you are obsessing over too. Don’t worry you will still be getting you daily doses of glam from blog posts.  Because love is in the air and Valentine’s day is on Sunday, so keeping with the trend our style guides unveiling this week have amour in mind.

On the fashion front, New York Fashion Week is upon us and I am super busy scoping out the newest hot trends. Don’t think mainstream fashion will dictate some western trends? Or that western won’t be putting its pretty little touch on some designs?  That is not the case my fashionista cowgirls.  Fashion mixes and mingles like a great cocktail party. So don’t be afraid to let Alexander McQueen inspire you right along side the western designers. If you want more mainstream fabulous-ness, watch for some NYFW updates and spotlights on Haute Weekly, where yours truly is also a writer.

I am only here to share information of trends that I do not set. However, I happen to totally agree with them. As an owner of a  small cowgirl-inspired boutique myself, I feel this ‘bling’ trend sliding backwards.  It has done this  since the day I opened my business, but I needed something to do. Don’t mistake me…bling is fun and bling is still here.  Haven’t you seen Carrie Underwood’s engagement ring? What would a woman’s world be without Rhinestones, Glitter, Sequins, DIAMONDS, and Chocolate Fountains (it’s irrelevant to bling but important nonetheless), I suspect you get the idea.   As women we love anything shiny unless it’s an iron or an oven.

Wearing ‘bling’ is okay but the layer upon layer of blinging accessories on top of a rhinestone embellished t-shirt, rhinestone cap, and rhinestone embellished purse, with the rhinestone flat wallet and rhinestone embellished flip flops can become blinding.  All of these items are absolutely perfect, don’t mistake my words.  This spring I want you to wear the flip flops but let them stand out.  Most of your attire is probably shined out by the glare of rhinestones.  Like every spring when the snow covered dead land comes peeking out with a hint of fresh green grass, let your accessories peek out this spring and sparkle loudly as they stand alone.  Here are some great pieces that do not have rhinestones but would be great to add a necklace, shirt, or bracelet that did have rhinestones!

All of these great items will look terrific with a little ‘bling’.   This spring if you go bling crazy try toning it down and going a little more simple.  If you don’t like it, shoot put it all back on, won’t hurt my feelings any!

Now, if you just love to wear all the rhinestone bling and are determined to ignore this post I say – you go right ahead honey!  Do what makes you happy, wear what is you, because after all….it’s is all about YOU darling, well and ME!

It’s Sunday, you can leave the 8-5 outfits in the closet and go comfy! Here’s some cute and comfortable Sunday Brunch outfits.

What fashionista wouldn’t have an apron, and not just some plain ole’  used up apron…I mean a ‘make your friends jealous’ kind of apron.  Check out these brunch worthy aprons!

For a Cowgirl gathering on Sunday these great serving pieces are fabulous.  I am putting the dinnerware set on my ‘must have’ list right now because they would match my kitchen perfectly!  Be sure to have fun with it.  Use the fancy pieces you already have, don’t save them for a rainy day!

The brand serving tray, I am already in possession of and LOVE it! I am currently using one as decoration.  I also own a few pieces that are a match to the plastic drink ware and the salsa and dip tray with removable sections.  They look fabulous and are perfect for outside (I have the salad bowl and small bowl set and the plate set, love’em).

After you’ve filled your bellies have fun while you relax and make the day one worth remembering!

Jessica Simpson, who in my opinion looks good in her faded jeans, t-shirt, flip flops, and no makeup; looks gorgeous in her silk dress and knee high boots. I am on a mission to find more boots like these this spring. I have plenty of Cowboy Boots and flip flops…I need the in between more heels and more fab boots like these babies. So how can you put a similar look together for that Party you need to attend? Sit back darling, let me show you!

Accessories don’t have to cost a fortune.  We all have our staple expensive pieces but some of my favorite pieces have cost me under $5.  I’m serious, don’t think that because you have on an expensive dress you have to have expensive accessories.  With these looks, go easy on the jewelry.  Wear big bold earrings and a ring, or just a big bold bracelet.  No need to over do it!

Of course you don’t become Jessica Simpson by doing your own hair and makeup. No, you pay someone more than I’ll make in probably 3 years to do that for you!! That doesn’t mean you can’t learn how to make your face look totally awesome as well. Just remember if you go heavy on the eyes, go easy on the lips and vice-versa.

The next few days I will feature 3 Fabulous looks for Spring that are Celeb-Inspired.  Part 1 will be a daytime look, Part 2 will be a nightime look, and Part 3 will feature a Fab Party get up just for a special city trip!

Part 1

Miranda Lambert known for her Rock Star Tough look is just that, a Tough Rock Star.  She doesn’t take ‘No’ for an answer and she stands out among her peers.  Her looks range from Rock Chick to Classy Chick at the appropriate times.  Her outfit that we feature for our Day Look is Cowgirl Tough with Class. 

This outfit can be worn to lunch with the girls, a shopping trip, or even an out of town trip.

Here are my picks for putting this outfit in your closet:

A Plain White Shirt, a staple for any closet.  One of the most versatile pieces you can have.  I’d say eventually find a piece that you pay a little more for and it should last you a lot longer.  I stock up on plain white tanks during the summer because they layer with darn near everything AND….who wants to do laundry every day?

The gorgeous tan vest:

The Jeans!!  How many pairs can  a girl have? Different fit, different wash, different comfort….ohhh I could spend a million dollars and not have enough pairs of jeans, or could I?  That’s a lot of jeans.  Having a mix of styles is very important for any wardrobe no matter what clique you belong to.  The ‘Ruby’ Ariat jeans offer the same darker wash that Miranda shows off and they provide versatility to wear in town or horseback.

Now, for the FUN part of Accessorizing:

My goal this year is to learn to play, but I don’t think I can learn on just any ole’ guitar.  This is my MUST have for this year, right along with more shoes!

Some of you know me, some of you do not.  My name is Christy Jo Hodge, I am owner of Cowgirl Confidential and The Pink Spur.  I am a WG fan from back in the Haute Cowgirl days.  I met Danielle almost one year ago, to advertise and since then that day a relationship has blossomed.  Danielle and I might have been separated at birth, even despite the fact she’s like one day older than me…so she thinks.

Western Glamour did a lot for me, it inspired me on a daily basis and even helped to push me to fulfill some of my life-long dreams of writing.  Now, with a twist of fate and shortly after launching my own company…here I am at Western Glamour as Editor In Chief.  I think Danielle has done so much  for WG and even though it’s like a boomerang and  just comes right back at her, I myself think it is a blessing in disguise.

Danielle and I have quite a lot in common, our focus, our goals, even our lifestyle.  I am truly blessed to be apart of this comeback with Danielle and share her devoted dream for Western Glamour.  I did not hesitate once about joining her on this new adventure.  Now, like the smell of fresh plowed dirt in an arena, awaiting the next adventure…I’d like to say “Welcome Back Danielle”.  I think everyone can agree, you’ve been missed!
